The ASDA Foundation keeps the heat on at SYDNI

Members of the community at SYDNI were delighted to accept a giant cheque for £19,688.00 from the Asda Foundation recently. Jeanette Miller, the Leamington Spa ASDA Community Champion presented the cheque to the trustees, staff and members of SYDNI and the grant will be used to install and maintain a much needed new heating system for the Centre.
The Asda Foundation has awarded over £1 million of funding for 73 projects across the UK through its Local Community Spaces Fund, with The SYDNI Centre among the successful organisations receiving support this year.
Trustee Robert Zara had led the bid for this community grant, as the heating system at SYDNI was old and unreliable, especially last year when it broke down many times and left the Centre cold and unable to offer a warm place for the community to meet.
Robert says “This amazing grant from the Asda Foundation will go a long way to making SYDNI warm and fully functional again this winter. We are all so excited to have been chosen to receive this and very grateful to the Asda Foundation for saving the day.”
Karl Doyl, Chair of the Asda Foundation, said “Strong communities need safe and strong spaces. This project will help improve accessibility, protect important local facilities and create a welcoming environment where people can come together, feel connected and access the support they need.”
