Classes are held at the centre every Wednesday. Please see the activity timetable for more details.
Classes on offer:
People wishing to attend the classes can just turn up on the day. They are warm and welcoming and take place in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
The first lesson is free and then £2 per class if the attendee can afford to pay.
The ESOL classes are a great way for people to develop their English skills with others in a relaxed and supportive environment. The classes are designed to suit the English language levels and learning needs of the students to help them progress at a pace that is comfortable and suitable for them.
They are 'practical' based classes and cover everyday issues such as making a doctor's appointment or taking things back to a shop!
The classes are designed to help people to participate fully in their local community. They help to overcome communication barriers, reduce isolation and improve confidence.
All of our ESOL Teachers are fully qualified to teach English.
Students are all welcome to volunteer at the SYDNI Centre as well, should they wish.
For example, they can offer to volunteer at the cafe and practice their developing English skills in an everyday situation. The cafe is also a great place for students to meet up after the English classes.
