11+ & Maths Tuition with Shelly

I am an experienced secondary school mathematics teacher with over 20 years of teaching both in person and online.

About our group

My Pure Mathematics M.Sc. qualification enables me to help secondary students grasp complex mathematical concepts with clarity and confidence.

My teaching approach focuses on building students’ confidence in mathematics by creating lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to their individual learning needs. With a thorough understanding of the AQA, OCR, and Edexcel exam boards, I am able to adapt my lessons to suit the specific requirements of each syllabus. I also place great emphasis on developing exam techniques, as I have found that regular practice with these strategies consistently leads to rapid improvement in grades.

In addition to secondary teaching, I have a deep understanding of the GL Assessment framework, which allows me to prepare students effectively for the 11+ exams. My programme covers all key areas — English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning — and helps children feel confident and well-prepared for the tests. I support this process by setting weekly homework tasks, addressing individual weaknesses, and conducting progressive assessments to monitor improvement over time.

·        My approach to tutoring is highly individualised. I design lessons and materials to match each student’s learning style, ability, and objectives. I make regular use of past exam papers, online platforms, and interactive resources to keep lessons engaging and relevant.

·        By combining strong subject knowledge, exam expertise, and a supportive teaching style, I aim to help every student not only succeed academically but also enjoy learning mathematics.
